How to install #2

Description

@ikb42

Apologies if this should be obvious, but I have yet to get the installation quite right.

Should the entire source be installed to a directory and then the web server pointed to the root of this directory or something else?

I am trying it on Windows 2012 under Apache 2 with PHP 5.5.1

Thanks!

    Simply place the directory somewhere and point the webserver to the /public directory and make sure all requests go through the index.php file.

    Hi, thanks for the response.
    If I do that I get "The requested URL /configuration was not found on this server."
    For example.

    You will have to setup URL rewriting to rewrite all requests to go through the /public/index.php file.

    Ok, but how?

    I don't run an IIS server myself, but this may be useful: http://expressionengine.stackexchange.com/a/5076

    It's Apache but on Windows, not IIS.
    I have the "LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so" httpd.conf

    Sorry my bad. If you are running apache use something like the following vhost config:

    <VirtualHost *:80>
      ServerName opcache.domain.com
      DocumentRoot "C:/Path/To/OpCache/public"

      <IfModule mod_dir.c>
        DirectoryIndex index.php index.html
      </IfModule>

      <Directory "C:/Path/To/OpCache/public">
        Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
        AllowOverride All
        Require all granted
      </Directory>

      RewriteEngine on

      RewriteCond "C:/Path/To/OpCache/public/%{REQUEST_URI}" !-f
      RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]

    </VirtualHost>

    The important part is the rewrite stuff.

    Added this part to my vhost:

    RewriteEngine on

    RewriteCond "C:/Path/To/OpCache/public/%{REQUEST_URI}" !-f
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ /index.php/$1 [L]

    And it works now, thanks!
