What is the fix?

When someone opens an issue, GitHub starts a job that is allowed to edit issues and to ask GitHub for a short-lived token. That job downloads anthropics/claude-code-action using the name @main. @main is not a specific copy of the code. It is a label, and the people who own that action can point the label at a different commit later. The next issue then runs whatever the label points at, with this repository's issue-write permission and token. Nobody has to change a file here for that to happen.

What

Pin anthropics/claude-code-action and actions/checkout in .github/workflows/issue-triage.yml to the commits those names pointed at on 24 September 2026.

Why

A branch name can be moved. A commit SHA is one snapshot, and that snapshot does not change. After this change, a new revision of the action cannot run in this job until someone updates the SHA in this repository and that update is reviewed.

How

  • Replace anthropics/claude-code-action@main with commit 9171db3e57d6a3140a37ddc2ba92788584e0ead6.
  • Replace actions/checkout@v4 with commit 11d5960a326750d5838078e36cf38b85af677262, because that step runs in the same job. The comment on each line keeps the old name so a reader can see what was pinned.

The job grants issue write and an OIDC token, and @main is a label that can be moved onto different code without a commit in this repository.
