Fixes #10185

SessionTokenCache.get() computed remaining TTL as (exp - iat) - (deviceNow - iat). That compares server iat with the device clock, so a client running behind kept returning a session token after exp (and after Clerk Backend's clock-skew window).

createdAt is the device time at cache insert again, matching #672. Elapsed time and the deletion timer both run on that clock. Broadcasts no longer stamp createdAt from iat.

Test plan

  • Device clock 40s behind: token with 60s lifetime is gone after 70s of device time
  • Existing expiration and overlapping-resolver tests

createdAt was taken from JWT iat, so a client whose clock ran behind kept serving session tokens after they had expired on the server.

📝 Walkthrough

The token cache now records entry creation time when caching a token and calculates expiration by subtracting elapsed device-clock time from the JWT lifetime. Tests update creation-time expectations and check expiration when the device clock is behind server time. A patch changeset documents the change.

Explanation

The implementation satisfies [#10185]. setInternal records createdAt from the device clock. get() and the expiration timer calculate age from that value and retain exp - iat as the token lifetime. Broadcast handling no longer uses JWT iat as createdAt. The new test covers a device clock 40 seconds behind and verifies that the token is available at 50 seconds and absent at 70 seconds. Existing monotonicity and expiration tests were updated for the device-clock behavior.

Do not persist the default cache time on the caller’s entry.

If a caller updates a previously cached entry with a fresh resolver and calls set(entry) again, this assignment preserves the first insertion time on entry.createdAt. The second call can then expire the fresh token early. Store the default timestamp on an internal entry copy so each reused caller entry receives a new cache time.

Account for a token’s age before cache insertion.

If a token arrives 40 seconds after its iat with a 60-second JWT lifetime, this calculation gives it another 60 seconds in the cache. At 25 seconds after insertion, get() can still return that token even though its server-side exp passed five seconds earlier. Broadcast-received tokens also use the receipt time as createdAt. Derive the remaining lifetime from a trusted measure of token age while accounting for device clock skew; do not grant every received token its full JWT lifetime. This is the late-arrival case identified in the PR objective.
