I don't know what causes it and how to investigate - it seems random and other than the error message no other information is provided.
If I click the button shown, the whole UI refreshes and I can see the sessions continuing
Workaround, if you want the crash to stop now: disable renderer accessibility for this app only. Measured here, 19.6 working-hours with zero crashes, against roughly one per 3.9 before.
The durable form is a per-app WebView2 policy, which survives app updates: set HKCU\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge\WebView2\AdditionalBrowserArguments, value name github.exe, to the app's own --disable-features=… list plus --disable-renderer-accessibility. Or set WEBVIEW2_ADDITIONAL_BROWSER_ARGUMENTS=--disable-renderer-accessibility in the environment of that process only.
Two caveats. Do not set the environment variable at User scope — it reaches every WebView2 host on the machine. And it turns renderer accessibility off, so it is unusable if you rely on assistive technology.
Root cause (a Blink CHECK reached with a null LayoutObject), the symbolized stack, and why the flag shipped in 1.1.13 does not fix it: #3200.
