Native support for PS4/PS5 controllers on Windows #20473

Open

Description

@hrydgard

EDIT: This has now been implemented in #20580 with followups, however only for USB so far.

There's been so many issues reported on this now that I'm leaning towards special-casing these - leaning on DInput doesn't work anymore, it's mostly broken with PS controllers.

here's a full on "driver" example, thanks Kyle: https://gist.github.com/kylawl/470e86a0ac0c3da8f598948b1930db4e

    Actually, need to research the Bluetooth side a bit more. But should be solid on USB now, please try.

    WEIRD ISSUE> when i have my DS4 connected thru BLUETOOTH, it seems to make weird inputs, pulling up the game info screen numerous times, or backing from a prvious tab in the emulator, this doesnt happen in any game, just in the UI.

    Yet still it doesnt seem to respond at all.

    Bluetooth support is not yet reimplemented. Stick with 1.19.3 release for now.

    The IDs for bluetooth PS4-PS5 controllers now go to DirectInput again so should kinda-work like in previous versions now. USB is recommended.

    Let me know if bluetooth still goes crazy on development builds, that shouldn't happen.

    As of v1.19.3-1308, dualsense still not working with bluetooth for me. Just figured I'd mention it, unsure if that is expected.

    DualSense now works with Bluetooth. DualShock is untested but will work before 1.20

    @LonelySpaceDetective

    Apologies if this isn't the place to report it, but I've noticed that with my DualSense, the Mute button (the one below the PS button, button 15 in the Windows controller tester) cannot be bound to anything; it just doesn't register in the program at all.
    This is the case for both Bluetooth and wired USB.

    Small thing, but I'll look into that the next time I work on the controller support.

    I'm also considering switching to SDL for input on Windows, as the amount of controllers needing custom support keeps growing....
