✨ Added custom fields for keeping your own details about members - #32539
Makes member custom fields generally available. Until now they sat behind a private Labs flag, so no publisher could find them. Once this merges, Ghost has custom fields on every site, whatever the site's own Labs setting says, including a site that switched them off in Labs while they were private. Publishers can define fields in Settings, fill them in on a member, filter and segment by them, import and export them, open them to members in Portal, and store Stripe Checkout answers in them.
Hosts can still withhold custom fields with the custom fields host limit, which is unchanged here: a site without them keeps the upgrade prompt, and its fields read as archived.
// ghost/core/shared/labs.jsconstGA_FEATURES=[// ...'membersCustomFields',// was in PRIVATE_FEATURES];
The flag's Labs toggle goes, because Settings can no longer save a released flag, so the toggle would show a stale value and change nothing. Every test that turned the flag on stops doing so, since that is now what every site runs. Admin's test fixtures report the flag on, as Ghost does.
Members will notice one change beyond the fields themselves: Portal heads the account row "Account" rather than the member's name.
Decisions
Move the flag to the released list, and delete it in a follow-up. The flags guide makes the released list a short step before removal. Admin and the server deploy independently, so Admin keeps asking its own server for the flag until every server has released custom fields. Keeping the flag a while also leaves a way to switch custom fields off while they settle in.
Alternative: delete the flag and every read here, as the issue says. Rejected: a newer Admin would offer custom fields to a server that hasn't released them, and the flag could no longer switch them off while they settle in.
Alternative: keep the flag in the released list for good, as a kill switch. Rejected: the host limit is the lasting switch, and the flags guide treats the released list as a short step before removal.
Alternative: turn the flag into a second availability limit, so switching it off reads every field as archived the way the host limit does. Rejected for a flag that is going soon.
Portal's account row reads "Account". With custom fields on, Portal heads the row for what it opens rather than with the member's name. That is the heading sites trying custom fields already have, kept as it is.
Alternative: keep the member's name until a field is opened to members. Rejected: the heading reads fine as it is, and the release stays free of Portal changes.
The tests for the flag being off stay, as tests for a server that hasn't released custom fields. That is what a newer Admin meets on an older server, and what Portal meets on older Ghost versions, so it's the older-backend case Admin and Portal must handle. Switching the flag off from config or remote flags gives the same state, so the server keeps its tests for refusing field changes then. It isn't a full kill switch: fields stay readable and editable on members, and the Stripe Checkout settings keep offering them, as that work deliberately checks neither the flag nor the plan. The host limit remains the way to switch custom fields off cleanly, with every field read as archived.
Suggested follow-ups
DYA-212: remove the flag, the server's gate on field changes, Admin's and Portal's reads, and the tests for a server without them, once nothing needs to switch custom fields off. It is ready as a draft, Removed the custom fields Labs flag #32549. Portal drops its read as a patch on its current version line, since every Ghost version on that line can answer Portal's request for a member's fields, and Portal reads one that can't as having none.
DYA-211: Admin's test fixtures keep a hand-written copy of the released flags, already missing several. This change had to add custom fields to it by hand.
DYA-210: Portal asks for the custom fields offered to a member on every page a signed-in member loads, and releasing turns that on for every site. It stays for now. The longer-term shape makes the field definitions public site data, which themes can read too, and replaces that request with one answer every visitor shares.
Validation
On a site running this branch whose Labs settings were never touched:
Settings → Membership lists Custom fields. Add a short text field and a list field.
Settings → Labs → Private features no longer lists "Member custom fields".
Open a member: the new fields show, take a value and keep it after a reload. The member's activity shows the change, and the activity filter offers custom field changes.
Members list: filter by the field, see its column, save the filter as a segment and reopen it.
Members import: a CSV column that matches no field offers to create one.
Sign in to Portal as a member: the account row reads "Account". Open a field to members: it shows on the account page and can be edited.
With the custom fields host limit disabled, Settings → Custom fields shows the upgrade prompt, and existing fields read as archived.
Settings → Membership → Stripe Checkout still lets you store an answer in a custom field.

Walkthrough
The change moves member custom fields from the private Labs feature list to the GA feature list. Admin tests distinguish the server availability flag from the Labs setting. API tests cover field creation after release and field access when the runtime Labs value is false. Admin, Portal, API, Checkout, and webhook tests remove explicit enablement of the Labs flag.

Full details: Type-Safe Boundaries
Explanation
The PR introduces no new production boundary parsing or unsafe type bypass. The only executable source change is moving membersCustomFields into GA_FEATURES; the other production changes are comments or feature-toggle removal. Added config and response-shape code appears only in tests, which this check excludes.
Full details: New Files Are Typescript
Explanation
The pull request adds no files. The authoritative diff lists only modified paths, including pre-existing JavaScript files such as apps/portal/src/utils/helpers.js and ghost/core/shared/labs.js. Therefore, it adds no .js, .jsx, .cjs, or .mjs source file.
Full details: Tooling Ownership
Explanation
No tooling ownership issue was introduced. The authoritative diff contains 39 modified paths, all under app, Core, test, documentation, or package test-fixture owners. It adds no scripts, tools, configuration directories, hidden tooling paths, new directories, or moves. The changed ghost/core/shared/labs.js is Core feature policy, and the changed Labs fixture remains beside its testing owner, which matches tools/README.md.

Publishers can now define their own fields for members in Settings, fill them in on a member, filter and segment by them, bring them in and out with a CSV, open them to members in Portal, and store Stripe Checkout answers in them. They have been built behind a private Labs flag, and every site now gets them, including one that switched them off in Labs while they were private, while hosts can still withhold them from a plan with the custom fields limit. The flag moves to the released list rather than going away, the short step the flags guide sets before removal: Admin and the server deploy independently, and Portal is served to older Ghost versions too, so Admin and Portal keep asking for the flag, and keep their tests for a server that hasn't released custom fields, until the flag is removed. The Labs toggle goes, as Settings can no longer save a released flag, and so does every test's request to turn the flag on, which is now what every site already runs.

What it does
